Gold Award success for Social Care colleagues

Our Gold Award recipients with their certificates

Congratulations to 15 colleagues in our Cygnet Social Care team who have successfully completed and achieved our new Social Care Gold Award.

The programme started in September with 15 attendees from across our Social Care services in Essex and the North of England. The Gold Award is for staff who have been nominated to undertake the programme or noted that they want to progress at their senior or team leader level.

To achieve the award staff undertook a series of modules including Care Planning, Safeguarding, Quality Assurance, DoLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards), Supervision, Appraisals, Finance and HR.

On the final day, each attendee gave a presentation on a different module, detailing what they had learnt and how they would change their working practices.

Jules Moran, Operations Director Yorkshire Social Care, organised the Gold Award and commended attendees for their success.

She said: “It was really good to see and hear how all attendees had learnt and developed along the way whilst being exposed to management tasks. It was great to hear how they will take their learning forward.

“The Gold Award is important as it helps to support the learning and development of our colleagues. Even if people feel a management position is not for them, they still develop vital skills.

“I am very proud of everyone and can see much potential for the future.

“Whilst I organised and attended each session I could not have done it without support. I would like to give a special thanks to all the managers, Jake Holdsworth, Mariam Javed, Laura Storey and Larry Yuseff.

“I would also like to thank representatives from HR (Adam Harris and Chloe Holland), Training (Joanne Lunn), QAM (Dale Cooper) and Regional Managers (Kate Halpenny, Dan Bingley and Niall Hale) and MD Joanne Morris, who were involved in presenting and taking part in the Gold Award.”

  • “I would like to say thank you for giving me the brilliant opportunity to attend the award. I feel that it has helped me with my learning and I would like to continue to learn to help my development moving forward. The award is a fantastic opportunity and attending in person rather than Zoom definitely helped my confidence.”
