The specialist assessment and inpatient services offer person-centred individualised treatment programmes to meet the needs of a range of mental health conditions for men & women aged 18 and over. Our teams deliver high quality private mental health treatment that is affordable. Our aim is to provide strategies to empower the people we support to manage their illness and improve their overall well-being.
Cygnet Churchill is an acute inpatient service for men located in Southwark on the South Bank of the River Thames in Central London. Cygnet Godden Green is an acute inpatient service for women located in Sevenoaks in the beautiful Kent countryside.
The first step is for our expert Consultant Psychiatrists to conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your individual needs. Our consultations can be delivered face to face at one of the above hospitals or virtually at your convenience. At the end of the hour-long assessment the Consultant will advise you of the outcome. If an inpatient admission is recommended a bespoke inpatient treatment programme will be created. You will be able to meet the treating team and take a tour of the site on the day of assessment. You can be admitted on the day of assessment.
To ensure your privacy and dignity, our private inpatient services offer bedrooms with ensuite facilities, on same sex wards. To support your recovery and wellbeing, we provide a range of therapeutic and communal spaces.
The expert multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and occupational therapists who support you through your journey. The hospitals offer a welcoming, calming environment, designed for healing and comfort. They are expertly maintained and provide a supportive setting to enable you to focus on your recovery.

It is a comprehensive evaluation by a Consultant Psychiatrist to understand your mental state, mood, and behaviour. Gathering information from your personal, family social and work history to understand both mental and physical needs.
Inpatient treatment provides 24-hour specialist support, care and risk management within a safe and structured environment, a place where wellness is at the forefront.
At Cygnet Churchill and Cygnet Godden Green, we provide a safe and stable environment for adults experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
At Cygnet Health Care, every care plan is personalised to the needs of the individual. By combining a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, we deliver high-quality care within a community atmosphere, while focusing on discharge planning from the moment care begins.
Your care will be led by a highly skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary team, including consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and specialist mental health nurses, all of whom are fully trained and accredited.
Coming into hospital can feel like a big step, and we want to make it as comfortable and welcoming as possible for you. Bringing a few familiar things from home can help you feel more settled during your stay.
You may wish to bring:
- Comfortable clothing for daytime and night-time
- Toiletries and any personal care items you use regularly
- Books, journals, or other comforting personal items
- Your mobile phone and charger
- Any prescribed medication, in its original packaging
Before you arrive, our team will talk you through what to bring and what to leave at home, so you can feel fully prepared. We’re here to make sure you have everything you need to feel safe, supported and at ease.
Our hospitals are designed to be safe, calm, and nurturing spaces where you can focus on your recovery. Both Cygnet Churchill and Cygnet Godden Green offer comfortable, modern environments with thoughtful touches that promote healing and peace of mind.
Consultations can be offered at the above hospitals with one of our expert Consultant Psychiatrists. Giving you the opportunity to take a tour of the inpatient environment and meet the teams.
You’ll have your own en-suite bedroom, bright communal areas to socialise in, and quiet spaces when needed. There are beautiful gardens, therapy rooms, and access to activities designed to help you recover and gain confidence.
We also know how important nourishing food is for both body and mind. Our dedicated chefs prepare fresh, healthy, and delicious meals every day, with menus that change regularly and can be adapted to your personal tastes and dietary needs.
We understand that the people who care about you are an essential part of your recovery. Family, partners, and close friends often play a vital role in helping you recover and stay well after you leave hospital.
Where it’s helpful, with your consent, we encourage loved ones to be involved in your care, whether through family meetings, regular updates, invitations to ward rounds or supportive conversations. We can also provide guidance to help them better understand your journey and how best to support you at home.
At Cygnet, we believe recovery is most powerful when it’s shared, and we’ll do all we can to include those who matter most to you in a way that feels right for you.
Your recovery journey is unique to you, but it’s also important that we can see how you’re progressing and celebrate your successes along the way.
From your very first day, we’ll work with you to set meaningful, achievable goals that reflect what you want from treatment. Your care team will regularly review your progress using recognised clinical measures, your own reflections, and feedback from our clinical team and loved ones (if you wish).
This helps us make sure you’re receiving the right support, at the right pace, and that you feel ready and confident as you move towards discharge.
Leaving hospital is an important milestone and we’ll make sure you don’t face it alone. Before you leave, your care team will create a personalised aftercare plan that supports your ongoing wellbeing and helps you maintain the progress you’ve made.
Cygnet discharge plan is a patient-centred process that begins at admission, with the goal of ensuring a smooth and safe recovery. The plan involves our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and focuses on your physical, psychological, and social needs.
This plan may include:
- Advice on managing triggers and maintaining wellness
- Discharge letter to your GP if you have given consent for us to share your information
- Support and information for your family or carers if you have given your consent for them to be involved in your care
Our aim is for you to feel confident, connected and supported as you continue your recovery beyond hospital.
We’re always here to help guide you to the right resources or support when you need it.
At Cygnet, we understand that taking the first step towards recovery can feel daunting. That’s why we’ve made it as simple as possible to access high-quality affordable private mental health treatment that provide compassionate care when you need it most.
