Cygnet Hospital Colchester climb Snowdon for charity

A group of 28 staff from Cygnet Hospital Colchester recently travelled to North Wales and back in a day, in a couple of hired minibuses, for a teambuilding charity walk to the summit of Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa.

There was a range of different fitness levels and walking experience within the group, and despite the challenging conditions, the majority of the group managed to get to the summit.

The event was organised by ward manager, Will Anderson-Smith and hospital manager, Lynn McGhee from the hospital.

After the epic walk Lynn said: “It was a great opportunity to spend time with colleagues in a different setting and truly get to know each other better. It was really lovely to see how staff supported and encouraged each other when things got tough, with all barriers broken down. This was a fantastic achievement for us and some staff were heard saying how proud they were of themselves.

“Aside from the personal achievement gained, we also raised money for Mid and North East Essex Mind, reaching a whopping £829 so far. This was also a great incentive to keep walking when thoughts of giving up came to our minds!

“The real heroes of the day though had to be our two drivers who took us there and back safely, in what was a very long day!”
