Spencer Ward’s Hawaiian Party

Staff and service users on Spencer Ward, Cygnet Hospital Sheffield’s, low secure service for women, recently celebrated the end of summer with a Hawaiian themed party.

In the lead up to the party one service user designed and made 20 tie dye t-shirts with the ward Activity Coordinator for everyone to wear on the day.

On the day, the service users were joined by Sammy from ‘So Damn Kreative’. Sammy provided an introduction to the history of different dance styles including breaking, locking, popping, and salsa as well as teaching the basic moves and show casing his own routines. Sammy will be returning to Cygnet Hospital Sheffield to offer dance sessions and education to the CAMHS Wards and Spencer Ward up until the New Year, which is a very exciting opportunity for all.

The kitchen team put on a fantastic menu including spicy chips, chicken strips, rainbow slaw and a selection of pizzas. This was accompanied by a Tiki Mocktail Bar which was open all day.

Other activities on the day, which were supported by the entire staff team included hula hooping, limbo, Just Dance, an ice-cream parlour and fancy dress.
