CAMHeleon celebrates and promotes Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) ward best practice and the things that really make a positive difference to young people, identifying small changes that have a big impact. Its overall objective is to support ward staff in enabling young people to really make the most of this time away from their usual lives.
The QNIC Forum this year focused on creating safer ward environments for our young people and ultimately a better overall experience of service users and their families and carers. Attendees heard from speakers about how important it is to ensure admission does not cause further harm or trauma to patients, reducing restrictive practice, and the importance of community interventions in avoiding hospital admissions.
Allie said: “Presenting at the QNIC forum was such an empowering experience. It was so good to be able to talk about all the work we did for the CAMHeleon project and answer questions from other professionals.”
We also had another amazing achievement on the day, when Debbie-Leigh, a service user on Mulberry Ward won the QNIC Art Work competition. This means that her piece of art will now be on the cover of the QNIC Review Reports for the next cycle starting in September 2024. Debbie Leigh said: “I feel very proud for winning the competition.”
