Located on Park Hall Road, Pines and Cherry Tree House are two residential care services for adults with autism and learning disabilities.
The Mansfield Woodhouse-based services hosted a bake sale with tasty treats whisked up by staff, raising £130 for Macmillan.
The charity provides emotional, financial, practical and physical support to people living with cancer. Macmillan also offers vital cancer services as well as researches and campaigns to achieve better cancer care.
Sharon Wilson, Administrator at the Cygnet Social Care services, said: “I’m proud of the amazing amount raised and the hard work, dedication and generosity shown by our team. We wanted to fundraise for Macmillan in honour of all of our loved ones who are fighting cancer and to those that we have lost.
“It was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and it also gave us the chance to discuss with each other how we can make a difference in other people’s lives. Every penny raised is going to help someone’s battle with cancer.”
The individuals supported at the Cygnet Social Care services played a vital role in the fundraising by helping set up the decorations for the event and eventually enjoying the sweet treats.
Staff and residents at Pines and Cherry Tree House then took part in a quiz, played bingo and had a raffle to keep the fundraising momentum going throughout the day.
Sharon said: “We have previously fundraised for Macmillan and our residents have been able to meet members of the charity before to hear how their funds make a difference. Our fundraiser was another good opportunity for our staff and residents to come together and enjoy raising funds for such an important charity.
“Here at Cygnet Social Care, we are the first to recognise the needs of others and do what we can in the wider community. It is an honour and a privilege that our residents can be involved in the fundraising we do and play such a willing part.”
