On Friday 2nd September staff and service users celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke with a large garden party.

There was a damp start to the day but fortunately a large marquee kept everyone dry. There were also plenty of activities to entertain everyone including face paint stalls, an archery stand, cream teas (delicious), homemade cakes, freshly made crepes to order and a delightful BBQ were all there to be enjoyed.

Tia and Jo, the tea maids, were on hand throughout the day with a mountain of scones and cakes to make sure that nobody went hungry.

Finally the sun came out as everyone was treated to a performance by a local choir who had been invited along to join the party. Everyone then took part in a large drum circle lesson.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of awards by Hospital Manager, David Colyer, to the 15 staff that have worked at the hospital since it first opened its doors. Each member of staff received a box of chocolates, a certificate and a thank you letter for their service.

With the sun still shining, the day was finished off with some excellent acoustic sessions from staff and service users including a performance from Martin Horler, the hospital’s Head of Psychology.
