Mollie was inspired to take on the challenge after suffering a spinal stroke 10 years ago. There was a third of a chance that she would walk again but after care from Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Mollie recovered.
The Senior Nurse completed 13.1 miles and used it as a meaningful way to thank the hospital for supporting her during a challenging time.
Mollie said: “I am really proud of my achievement. Being a nurse at Cygnet Oaks showed me how hard-working health care workers are and how much support is given to the people in our care. It made me want to give something back to Sheffield Children’s Hospital as that was the place and the people that helped me when I was struggling.”
Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity supports ground-breaking medical treatment, funds life-saving equipment and works to create a comfortable and engaging environment for children at the hospital.
Nicole Kenyon, a Therapy Coordinator at Cygnet Oaks, praised her colleague’s success.
She said: “The whole Cygnet Health Care team are very proud of Mollie. The compassion and dedication she brings to helping our service users every day really shone through in this incredible fundraising effort.
“Mollie’s caring nature, gentle approach, and unwavering commitment to supporting those in need are qualities that make her an exceptional nurse and an inspiration to her colleagues. Her decision to run this half marathon reflects the same selfless spirit that defines her approach to nursing.”
