Staff and patients from Cygnet Maple House in Nottinghamshire have raised over £2,000 for a baby loss charity after a year of fundraising.

Cygnet Maple House, a 16-bed mental health hospital for women in East Bridgford, have been fundraising for the charity 4Louis since the start of 2025.

4Louis is a charity that supports anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child.

The organisation provides memory boxes to help families remember their loved one, and offers useful tools, equipment, and training free of charge to hospital units, hospices, and other professionals who work with grieving families.

As the year comes to an end, the Cygnet Health Care service have raised £2,068.24 for 4Louis. Staff and service users recently attended the charity headquarters to present a cheque to them.

Andrew Hemmington-Page, Head of Care at Cygnet Maple House, said: “Each and every one of us has an immense feeling of achievement after our year of fundraising. It was great to give the cheque to 4Louis, they are such an amazing charity.

“Whilst at the headquarters, our service users and staff kept up their charitable efforts. They packed memory boxes with keepsakes and mementos to help families affected by baby loss create lasting memories of their loved ones.”

The Cygnet Health Care service’s fundraising efforts kicked off with an 11-mile sponsored walk with the charitable momentum not dropping throughout the year. Other fundraisers included a bake off, a car wash, a big sleep out and car boot sales.

Andrew said: “We chose 4Louis as our charity for the year because we wanted to help them in the support they provide to families that are affected by miscarriages and still births. Our aim was to raise awareness of the charity’s efforts and do our bit to support those suffering.

“Having a chosen charity for 2025 has given our service users many great opportunities throughout the year to work collaboratively, plan events and engage with others in the local community.

“It was brilliant for the whole of Cygnet Maple House to be able to give their time and fundraising efforts to such a worthy cause. We are already planning a new charitable partnership next year.”
