The hosptial’s participation was organised by the Active Life and the Occupational Therapy Team. Service users and staff met before the race and joined all the other competitors at the start for a warmup.
The race took place on the beach and along the pier at Weston super Mare. It was a lovely hot evening with a light breeze coming in off the sea. Even though it was a warm evening, everyone managed to complete the 5km race in good time by either running or walking. Everyone maintained high spirits throughout the race.
After the event, time was spent on the beach lawns in Weston super Mare, where the Kewstoke team all engaged in some light refreshments whilst reflecting on a successful evening. One service user commented that the evening was lovely, and it was nice to be out in the fresh air.
Everyone received a well-deserved Race for Life medal at the end of the race. The total raised for Cancer Research by the Kewstoke team was over £300.
