We are pleased to announce that we have extended our sponsorship of Taunton Town FC for a further year to coincide with the club’s 75th anniversary.

Cygnet Health Care originally became stadium sponsors for the football club in July 2019, and since then, the relationship has flourished with the aim of promoting the positive effect of sport on mental health and wellbeing.

Service users from Cygnet Hospital Taunton have regularly attended matches during the past three seasons while the partnership has also provided impetus to the club in setting up their own Community Engagement Project. Cygnet were also well represented at the recent Champion’s Dinner at Somerset County Cricket Club when they helped the club celebrate the wonderful achievements of last season.

Cygnet Hospital Taunton’s Active Life Lead, Stuart Hooper said: “It’s been fantastic developing this partnership before, during and after lockdown. The club is hugely supportive of the hospital and the service users we bring to games. It’s refreshing that this winning club mentally fits alongside our own ambitions.

“A big part of this partnership for us is about supporting the communities in which our services sit and in doing so, build the strong relationships that make it easier for us to help the people we care for access the local community and become an active part of it.

“Sport and being physically active can bring a powerful and positive impact on mental wellbeing so we feel we share the same values as the club. We wish the club a successful season ahead.”

Taunton Town Chairman Kevin Sturmey commented: “I am delighted that Cygnet Health Care have renewed their Stadium Sponsorship for our 75th Anniversary season. It has been an incredible three seasons since Cygnet became Stadium Sponsor, with two of those seasons ravaged by Covid but with Cygnet still helping us through what was a very tricky period.

“Our relationship has really developed over the last three years, and I hope we can continue well beyond this season as our partnership is so much more than football. With a local Hospital here in Taunton and knowing Stuart for a long time, we have really managed to make visits to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium a valuable part of life for the local Cygnet service users.

“We look forward to this partnership growing further and help us to cement our place as one of the top sports clubs in our community where engagement beyond football is so important.”
