Cygnet Aspen Clinic, a 16-bed service for women with personality disorders and mental health needs, recently hosted an 80s day, raising £350 for YWCA Yorkshire.
The charity supports women, children and families across South Yorkshire, offering accommodation, empowerment and advocacy services.
Sue Berwick, Specialist Occupational Therapist at the Mexborough-based Cygnet Health Care service, said: “Our service users decided that they’d like to fundraise for YWCA Yorkshire as they wanted to help other people who need support. It was a successful day, full of energy and everyone got involved with the 80s theme.”
Nostalgic tunes from the 80s set the party backdrop as staff and service users alike donned their best retro outfits before enjoying a disco and karaoke. To keep donations rolling in, there was also a tombola, raffle and a bake sale.
“The individuals we support here at Cygnet Aspen Clinic were fully involved in the fundraiser. They embraced the theme and wanted to help out as much as possible so it was important we facilitated this for them,” explained Sue.
“Our service users helped run the stalls and made items to be sold. It was a great way to raise funds for an important cause.”
