
The awards were presented by Matt Gill, Director of Psychology (North Region), and Erica De Lange, Director of Psychology (South Region), who praised the incredible work achieved throughout 2025.
“These awards celebrate the exceptional performance and inspiring individuals and teams within our psychology directorate,” said Matt Gill.
“Reading the nominations of excellent clinical practice, compassion and innovation is a reminder of the dedication and talent of our psychology teams,” added Erica De Lange.

Award Winners
Researcher of the Year
Winner: Kathleen Roberts, Preceptor Psychologist, Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton
Katie conducted a robust research project exploring the relationship between ward environment perceptions and staff burnout in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units. Her work received positive feedback from the British Psychological Society and is paving the way for future research and practice improvements.
Innovator of the Year
Winner: Chloe Feltham, Assistant Psychologist, Cygnet Sedgley House and Lodge
Chloe led a Quality Improvement project to enhance communication and co-production of discharge pathways with service users. The project was a finalist in the 2025 Patient Experience Network Awards, achieving significant improvements in service user engagement and understanding of treatment plans.
Psychologist of the Year
Winner: Alice Davidson, Counselling Psychologist, Cygnet Churchill
Alice has gone above and beyond to support service users holistically, integrating psychological interventions with innovative approaches such as horticultural therapy. She is a positive role model and advocate for psychology across the service by working closely with members of the MDT, families, carers and community mental health services.
Assistant Psychologist of the Year
Winner: Wesley Cooks, Assistant Psychologist, Cygnet Appletree
Wes has demonstrated clinical excellence, innovation, and commitment to staff development. His published work on Trauma-Informed Care and dedication to collaborative practice make him an outstanding contributor to the profession. Wes was described in one of his nominations as someone “whose warmth, professionalism, and dedication makes a profound difference to the patients and colleagues”.
Psychology Team of the Year
Winner: Cygnet Maple House
The Maple House team were recognised for their outstanding clinical treatment, commitment to co-production, and progress towards enabling environments accreditation. Their innovative and compassionate approach has made a lasting impact on service users and staff.
Allied Health Professional of the Year
Winner: Luke Van Os, Psychology Psychotherapist, Cygnet Bury Dunes
Luke’s dedication to supporting deaf service users and promoting deaf culture has been exceptional. His ability to provide therapy in BSL and lead on ASD assessments for deaf individuals demonstrates innovation and inclusivity in practice.
Swan Award (South Region)
Winner: Dr Sharon Collins, Consultant Counselling Psychologist
Sharon was recognised for her pioneering trauma-informed frameworks – the Diamond and Helios Frameworks – which have driven cultural change and improved outcomes for service users and staff.
Swan Award (North Region)
Winner: Catherine Flowers, Consultant Forensic Psychologist
Since joining the organisation in 2012, Catherine’s leadership and contributions to forensic psychology, risk assessment, and service development have had a significant impact both within Cygnet and nationally.
