The new apprenticeship is specifically aimed at helping young people who have left school or college into the workforce and marks an exciting milestone in our commitment to developing new talent and strengthening the future of social care.
The initial cohort of nine young people are joining our social care services across West Yorkshire.
As part of their journey, they will complete the Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Standard — a nationally recognised programme that builds strong foundations in communication, safeguarding, professional practice and promoting independence. This is in collaboration with Learning Curve Group.

Faye Malkin, Cygnet’s Group Training Manager for Apprenticeships, has been delighted by the start the new apprentices have made and said: “Cygnet is not only supporting local people into meaningful careers but also nurturing the next generation of compassionate, skilled care professionals.
“Already, the apprentices are embracing the learning experience with enthusiasm.”
One apprentice shared:
“I’ve really enjoyed shadowing the team and getting to know each individual we support.”
Another reflected on the importance of communication:
“Intensive Interaction has been invaluable — it’s helped me understand each person’s unique way of communicating.”
And as they grow in confidence, they’re also recognising the core values that underpin great care:
“I’ve learned how important privacy and dignity are when supporting each person.”
Faye added: “These insights show the passion and curiosity this cohort brings to their roles. By investing in apprenticeships,
“We’re proud to welcome our new apprentices and look forward to supporting them as they begin their journey in social care.”
