The charity supports young people with mental health needs and wellbeing issues in Darlington, offering a mentoring project to prevent these challenges from escalating into long-term struggles.
The Cygnet Health Care staff went head-to-head in a nail-biting game, raising £463 for the charity.
Georgia Nelson, Regional Lead Occupational Therapist, highlighted the success of the fundraiser.
She said: “The match was a huge success – not just for the football on display, but for what it achieved. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of both our staff and individuals we support, we raised an amazing amount for a wonderful local charity.
“Our service users chose The Listening Post to receive our donation as they felt that being truly heard during younger years makes a profound difference to your mental health.”
Individuals supported at the Darlington-based services took to the sidelines to cheer on the staff throughout the game, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Cygnet St William’s.
The Cygnet Health Care services presented The Listening Post with a cheque, before hearing more about the work the charity undertakes in the local community.
“We are so proud of those who organised such a brilliant event, and grateful to everyone who took part, donated, and supported the cause,” explained Georgia.
“Our fundraiser offered a real sense of giving back to and bettering the local community.”
Located on Cornwall Avenue, Cygnet St William’s is a 12-bed neuropsychiatric care service for men with acquired brain injuries. Cygnet Victoria House, which is nearby on Barton Street, is a 26-bed hospital for men with mental health needs.
