Tupwood Gate Nursing Home shortlisted in Palliative Care Awards

The team at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home

Well done to the team at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home who have been shortlisted in the Palliative Care Awards, in recognition of their commitment to delivering compassionate and high-quality end-of-life care.

The nursing home, in Caterham, Surrey, is part of the Cygnet Social Care division and has long been committed to providing a calm, comforting, and respectful environment for residents at the end of life.

The Palliative Care Awards celebrate excellence across the range of palliative and end-of-life services in the UK. The awards aim to spotlight individuals and organisations who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving the lives of people living with serious and terminal illnesses.

Tupwood Gate Nursing Home has been shortlisted in the Palliative Nursing Home Provider Award category.

Service manager Busi Mudimbu said: “We are incredibly proud and honoured that Tupwood Gate Nursing Home has been shortlisted for the Palliative Care Awards. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment of the entire team, who work every day to provide the highest standard of care and comfort to our residents and their families.

“Being acknowledged in this way is both humbling and inspiring, and it reinforces our ongoing commitment to excellence in palliative care.

“It means so much to us because supporting people at the end of their lives is one of the greatest privileges we have. It’s a role we approach with deep compassion, respect, and humanity.

“Our team feels immense pride in being there for our residents and their loved ones during such a profound time. This recognition reflects the heart and soul our staff put into every moment of care.”

Rated 9.9 on the carehome.co.uk review site, testimonials left by family members about the quality of care at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home include;

  • “The nurses, care staff and managers provide excellent person centred care, we could not ask for more. The staff are caring and compassionate.”
  • “What a lovely home, my dad calls it his hotel.”
  • “I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care, nursing and personal attention provided by nurses and carers that my Dad was given during his stay.”

Busi added: “Palliative care is about so much more than medical care. It’s about dignity, compassion, listening, and simply being there when it matters most. We take great pride in creating a calm, comforting environment where people feel safe, respected, and surrounded by kindness.

“For us, quality palliative care means honouring each person’s story, easing their pain and fears, and making sure they never feel alone.

“We also understand how deeply this time affects families. That’s why we focus not only on the person receiving care, but on the loved ones around them, offering emotional support, guidance, and reassurance every step of the way.”

The winners of the Palliative Care Awards will be announced at a ceremony in June.
