Robert Kisitu, who works as an Adult Care Lead Worker for Cygnet Social Care at its supported living service in Huddersfield, will join finalists at the awards ceremony on Friday 6 November at The Vox, Resorts World Birmingham.
Now in its 11th year, the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of multicultural British apprentices, alongside the employers and learning providers who support their development. The awards recognise talent, diversity and the contribution apprenticeships make to career progression and professional development.
Faye Malkin, Cygnet Group Training Manager – Apprenticeships, said: “We are all very proud of Robert for this achievement.
“His shortlisting recognises his commitment to providing person-centred support, promoting independence and helping the people he works with to achieve their individual goals.”
Robert works at Ashfield, a Cygnet Social Care supported living service in Huddersfield which provides six tenancies for adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism. The service offers personalised support in a private home environment, enabling people to hold their own tenancy through a registered housing association while developing their independence.
As an Adult Care Lead Worker, Robert also supports colleagues, shares his knowledge and helps maintain a positive working environment where people are treated with dignity and respect.
Speaking about his shortlisting, Robert said: “I really appreciate being shortlisted for this award, and I’m proud to have my hard work and dedication recognised.
“My favourite thing about my job is making a real difference in people’s lives. Knowing that I can support someone to achieve their goals, build their confidence, maintain their independence and feel valued makes my job very rewarding.
“I believe that being a good care worker is about more than completing tasks; it is about building trust, understanding individual needs and making people feel safe and valued.”
Robert is currently completing a Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship and said this has helped him build on his existing knowledge, strengthen his leadership skills and develop his understanding of high-quality care and support.
He added that the experience has helped him become more confident in his role and given him a stronger foundation for future career development.
“Being shortlisted for this award means a great deal to me,” he said. “It makes me feel proud and appreciated, and it motivates me to continue working hard and developing my skills.
“I am proud of how far I have come, and I look forward to continuing to learn, develop and progress in my career.”
The winners of the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards 2026 will be announced at the ceremony on 6 November.
