Proud to Be for Black History Month

We’ve been celebrating Black History Month this October and asking everyone to get involved in this year’s ‘Proud to Be’ photo campaign.

The campaign aims to make Black History Month 2021 personal and unique to individuals, families and communities, focusing on how we’re all making history all the time in our own ways, as well as the contributions and achievements of Black people throughout history.

Rosalyn Mloyi, Corporate Nurse Director and Cygnet’s Multicultural Network Chairperson, said:

“Since 1987, the UK has celebrated Black History Month to mark, recognise and reflect on the contributions of Black people throughout our economic, cultural, political and religious history. Following a year that has not been easy for all of us with some pronounced difficulties for the Black community worldwide, I look forward to some positivity with all of us celebrating and learning together.

“Even I as a Black person learn so much during Black History Month. With this year’s theme of ‘Proud To Be’; I hope we will take this time to shout about and share what we are personally proud of as Black people and celebrate the ways in which we too are making Black History. Big or small, we all leave a footprint in history. I’m sure I do not speak only for myself when I say, we eagerly await what will be shared in its vibrancy as we celebrate Black History Month 2021.”

Thank you to the management and head office staff as well as the teams at Chaseways, Cygnet Hospital Harrow, Cygnet Godden Green, Cygnet Sherwood House and Walkern Lodge for sharing their Proud To Be photos.
