Ollie White finalist in Great British Care Awards

Congratulations to Ollie White, Registered Manager of The Orchards, who has been named a finalist in the East of England region of the Great British Care Awards.

Ollie has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Care Home Registered Manager category. To be a finalist in this category a manager has to demonstrate a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing a care home. They also need to be a manager who shows vision in developing person centred care and supporting staff to meet the ever changing needs of residents.

Ollie is the registered manager of The Orchards, a residential service in Thorrington, Essex, which supports men with a learning disability and those who have complex needs and behaviours.

One person who was especially delighted to hear the news was Beatrice Nyamande, Operations Director, who said, “Ollie had numerous nominations submitted by Cygnet staff including senior members of the management team who have witnessed Ollie develop his career.

“Ollie’s commitment, motivation, zest and drive for better and outstanding outcomes for both his staff and residents is so admiral and whatever the outcome, Ollie deserves a big applause!!”

On finding out he had made the final a surprised Ollie said, “I can’t believe I am a finalist! This nomination isn’t just for me, it’s for also for the residents and staff. We are a team and there is no I in team, it’s a joint effort and I want to thank them all for taking the time to nominating me.

“I have had great guidance and support from Beatrice and Wilma. Beatrice has been with me every step of the way teaching me and sharing her knowledge with me. This has helped a lot in my progression in being the best I can. So THANK YOU to everyone.”

The final takes place at an awards ceremony on Friday 4th November. Best of luck Ollie!
