Following the success of last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, the talented cast returned to the stage with their own creative twist on a festive favourite, ‘Shrekfantastic’, delighting audiences with humour, colour and plenty of laughs.
From larger-than-life props to scene-stealing costumes, every element of the production was handmade by residents and staff from both services. On the day, the celebrations continued with a raffle to support local food banks, alongside a buffet, disco and bouncy castle. The raffle raised £176 to help support the local food bank which will provide emergency food and practical support to people in Mansfield this Christmas.
The audience included residents, families and colleagues from across the area, with guests attending from a number of other Cygnet Social Care residential services.
Preparations for the pantomime began months ago, with residents taking part in regular rehearsals and craft sessions. The process helped build confidence, develop skills and strengthen friendships, all culminating in a performance that captured the spirit of Christmas.
Service Manager Sophie Hill said: “This pantomime was about so much more than putting on a show, it was about confidence, creativity and coming together as a community. The residents have worked incredibly hard and watching them shine on stage was genuinely heart-warming.
“There was so much laughter, pride and festive spirit in the room, and knowing we were also raising money for the local food bank made it even more special. It’s moments like this that really show what our services are all about.”
