We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kaajal Chotai as our new Director of Corporate Governance.

Kaajal brings with her a wealth of experience that will further strengthen Cygnet’s leadership team.

Having completed her studies in law and whilst undertaking further studies in medical law and ethics, Kaajal started out her career in projects in the charity sector. She then embarked on a career in the NHS.

In her most recent role, she was Chief Quality and Governance Officer for a large care provider and charity for adults with learning disabilities, as well as being their CQC nominated individual. Her portfolio included corporate governance, quality assurance and CQC compliance, incidents and safeguarding, complaints and service user experience, health and safety, risk management, and positive behavioural support.

Prior to this, Kaajal held several senior governance, quality improvement, risk and compliance roles in complex, multisite NHS organisations.

With an experience-based understanding and appreciation of both the challenges faced – and opportunities for – the health and social care sector, Kaajal hopes to bring her experience to support the executive team in driving the achievement of Cygnet’s corporate strategic priorities.

She said: “I feel very privileged to take on this role at Cygnet and to play my part in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

“I am really looking forward to working with the teams in my portfolio to drive a systems approach to simple, lean governance frameworks for ensuring compliance, safety and assurance, playing a crucial role in achieving the best possible outcomes for the people that Cygnet supports.

“One of my passions lies in embedding culture and capability for learning and continuous quality improvement. I am confident that my previous roles and experience will provide much added value to Cygnet and I cannot wait to get started.”

Kaajal lives in North London with her husband and two children. Kaajal enjoys visiting art galleries, loves all kinds of music – from Jazz to Garage(!), walking outdoors, reading, and above all, spending time with her family.
