Group Clinical Director Jon Van Niekerk said: “We’re delighted to welcome Dr Gareth Jarvis to Cygnet Health Care. Gareth’s proven leadership in mental health, his pioneering work in Open Dialogue, and his commitment to continuous improvement reflect the very best of our profession. His values align closely with Cygnet’s focus on compassion, co-production and quality, and I’m confident his experience will help us build on our strong foundations of safe, person-centred care”.
Dr Gareth Jarvis is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist who has joined Cygnet following four and a half years as the Medical Director for Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust’s Adult Mental Health Services.
Gareth has been a passionate advocate for the Open Dialogue approach to mental healthcare for the last 10 years. Having helped set up and deliver the ODDESSI study trial site in Haringey, he went on to set up the UK’s largest implementation pilot in South Westminster. Gareth is also a champion of Quality Improvement, with that approach informing how he leads mental health services at all levels.
He supported CNWL’s inpatient services to eliminate their use of out of area placements for the last two years. Gareth lives in north London. He loves theatre, hill walking, resistance training and gardening.
Gareth said: “I am thrilled to be joining such a large and thriving provider of mental health services, with a strong reputation for good quality care. I look forward to meeting all the teams I will be working with, learning more about care at Cygnet, and what we can build together.”
