Dr Matta has been part of the Cygnet Group for nine years and brings extensive experience in clinical leadership, service development and quality improvement. Having most recently served as Interim Group Clinical Director, he has played a significant role in supporting clinical excellence and strengthening the quality of care delivered across Cygnet’s services.
A Consultant Psychiatrist and experienced Medical Director, Dr Matta has led large-scale clinical, operational and digital transformation programmes across mental health services in England, Wales and Scotland. Throughout his career, he has helped drive quality improvements, develop robust clinical governance frameworks and support the delivery of safe, evidence-based, person-centred care. He has also been instrumental in opening new services, developing innovative models of care and promoting co-production to ensure service user voices remain at the heart of care delivery.

His experience, clinical and medical expertise, and understanding of our organisation, combined with his commitment to the people we support and our colleagues, make him an excellent appointment.

Alongside his clinical leadership responsibilities, Dr Matta has championed workforce development, helping to strengthen psychiatric recruitment, training and professional development opportunities. He is also passionate about digital innovation in healthcare and has supported the implementation of systems designed to improve quality, safety and operational efficiency across services.
