Once again, service users and staff came together for a festival celebration day, and this one might just have been the best yet. A resounding success that everyone enjoyed.
The event was a true team effort, co-produced with patients who engaged in gardening and DIY groups to prepare the garden, repainting the planters and hand-building a corn hole game from MDF to make sure everything looked its best.
The festival embraced a Tiki Hut theme, transforming the garden into a vibrant celebration space. Though the rain made an appearance, it did little to dampen spirits.
There was a lovely mindfulness zone set up where people could sit down, relax, and do some colouring, plus fake tattoos for anyone who wanted a bit of festival flair, and wristbands for admission so everyone felt the VIP vibes. It was all rounded out by a ‘posh’ hot dog stand for a festival-worthy dinner (thanks Robins!).
Georgia Nelson, Regional Lead Occupational Therapist, said: “The absolute highlight of the day had to be the live music. A huge, huge shout-out goes to Jack Ramsey, who came along and performed a full set completely for free, just to support the cause. That sort of kindness is really something special, and it went down an absolute storm, he had the lads singing along to some GlastHOMEbury tunes and the whole place was buzzing. The day wouldn’t have been the same without him, and everyone was extremely grateful.
“Of course, none of it would have happened without a lot of hard work behind the scenes. Special thanks have to go to Martin, Jade and Holly, who did all the planning and prepping to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Even with the rain, the fourth GlastHOMEbury stood as another heartfelt celebration of community, creativity, and connection at St William’s.”
