Cygnet St William’s finalist in Stronger Communities Awards

Well done to the team at Cygnet St William’s, our neuropsychiatric rehabilitation service in Darlington for men with acquired brain injuries, who have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Exceptional Care category in Darlington Borough Council’s Stronger Communities Awards.

The Stronger Communities Awards are an annual opportunity to recognise local businesses and entrepreneurs in Darlington. The awards celebrate athletes, students, caring and successful businesses, local community groups, and the determination and commitment of the town’s volunteers.

The whole team were nominated for the Stronger Communities Award in the Exceptional Care Category by a former member of staff. The nomination was for the exceptional care given to a service user by staff at Cygnet St William’s. The team embraced a difficult situation but made sure the service user and family’s best interests and specific needs were at the heart of what they did, going above and beyond what was expected of them, in their delivery of neuropsychiatric rehabilitation and care.

Jayne Davies, Head of Care at Cygnet St William’s, said, “We are very proud to have been nominated for this award. We are a neuropsychiatric rehabilitation and treatment facility and were faced with a challenging situation last year in making sure the specific needs of the service user were met. The whole staffing team were respectful and acted with dignity supporting the service user and his family. The care given by the team was second to none.”

In addition to being shortlisted as a team the hospital’s manager Alison King has also been shortlisted in the same Exceptional Care category.

The award ceremony is taking place at the Dolphin Centre, Darlington on Friday 12th November. Good luck to Alison, Jayne and the rest of the Cygnet St William’s team.
