Cygnet Social Work Awards 2022

The Social Work Awards

On Monday 5th December the Cygnet Social Work Awards were held virtually. The event was a celebration of all Social Workers and Social Work Assistants at Cygnet Health Care.

The event began with a welcome message from David Wilmott, Director of Nursing. Cygnet Hospital Sheffield then shared a presentation about their work to improve communication and share best practice, followed by an informative question and answer session.

The first award was the Leadership in Social Work Award. The winner was Joanna Dawes, Head of Social Work and Safeguarding Lead, Cygnet Hospital Sheffield. Joanna was commended for being a fantastic leader, excellent role model and always willing to guide others. She was also described by colleagues as passionate about helping others.

The other nominees were:

  • Fiona Kennedy, Head of Social Work and Safeguarding Lead at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage and Group Social Work Lead
  • Turloch Holmes, Head of Social Work and Safeguarding Lead, Cygnet Hospital Bury
  • Carol Collins, Head of Social Work and Safeguarding Lead, Cygnet Hospital Derby

The second award was the Innovation in Social Work Award. The winner was Rosie Boote, Social Worker, Cygnet Hospital Sheffield. Rosie was nominated for bringing humility, fun and commitment to the young people that she works with every day. She has an extensive knowledge of the tribunal process and ensures that the best interests of the young people are the priority every step of the way.

The Cygnet Hospital Sheffield Winners

Following that was the Social Work Assistant of the Year Award, which was won by Adrienne Warwick, Social Work Assistant, Cygnet Hospital Sheffield. Adrienne won the award for her willingness to go above and beyond for both the young people and their families, always remaining positive and being a great team player.

The other nominees were:

  • Saskia Hills, Social Work Assistant, Cygnet Hospital Maidstone
  • Chelsea Ellender, Social Worker, Cygnet Hospital Sheffield
  • Mandy Lyons, Social Work Assistant, Cygnet Hospital Bury
  • Marie Grant, Social Work Assistant, Cygnet Hospital Beckton

Finally, the event concluded with the Social Worker of the Year Award. The winner received 10 nominations and was Natalia Masternak, Social Worker, Cygnet Hospital Ealing. Those who nominated Natalia shared her drive to expand her role and assist others to learn. She was described as knowledgeable, thorough and passionate about involving service users and carers as much as possible.
