The purchase marks another significant step in Cygnet’s ongoing expansion of its social care services, following the acquirement of three specialist care homes previously operated by Oakview Care Services in March and, most recently, Woodrowe Healthcare.
The acquisition means Cygnet Social Care now operate all six homes formerly run by Stepping Stones in Gloucestershire; five in the Forest of Dean and one in the village of Redmarley in the north of the county.
Broadoak, The Old Vicarage, Riverside House, Dean Grange and Milestones all provide a residential service for adults with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge. Redmarley provides support to individuals with mental health needs.
Gareth Williams, CEO of Cygnet Social Care, said: “Bringing Stepping Stones into the Cygnet Social Care family marks an exciting step in our journey to expand high-quality residential support in the region. This acquisition strengthens our commitment to providing safe, nurturing, and person-centred care across Gloucestershire.
“Their dedicated team and high-quality services have built a strong reputation for supporting individuals to thrive.
“The ethos of Stepping Stones was to provide a service with integrity, dignity and empathy. This very much aligns with our own values at Cygnet Social Care and we look forward to building on their excellent work for the benefit of those we support.”
Cygnet Social Care is working closely with the staff team at Stepping Stones to ensure a smooth transition, prioritising continuity of care for residents and maintaining the high standards that families and stakeholders expect.
Dominic Quinlan, whose mother opened Stepping Stones over 60 years ago, said: “We are delighted to have sold the business to such an established and reputable provider in Cygnet Social Care.
“We wish the staffing team, families, and our residents all the very best and thank them for being on such a memorable journey with us.”
