Cygnet Manor Raises Over £3,300 at Community Family Fun Day

The team at Cygnet Manor brought the local community together on Saturday 14th June for a spectacular Family Fun Day at Shirebrook Cricket Club, raising an incredible £3,353 for their Charity of the Year, Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital Charity.

The event was organised by four dedicated staff members: Jenna Nussey (Domestic team), Angela Guzdz (Receptionist), Lisa Parkes (Hospital Administrator), and Michelle Nicholson (Domestic Supervisor), who worked tirelessly to organise a day packed with entertainment for all ages.

The cricket club was transformed into a bustling hub of activity, with Cygnet Manor staff running various fundraising stalls including hook a duck, bean bag throw, tombola, and apple bobbing. Local businesses showcased their products alongside food vendors, whilst families enjoyed face painting, bouncy castles, and music from a DJ throughout the day.

The event was honoured by a special visit from Harriett and her family from Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital Charity, who spoke with attendees about the vital work the charity carries out in the local community.

One of the day’s highlights was the main raffle, featuring over 40 prizes including paint-balling experiences, cinema tickets, Love to Shop vouchers, and luxury hampers. However, the star prize was a signed Manchester United football shirt, autographed by the entire team, which alone raised £500. This prize was won by a member of the Cygnet Manor team who is a devoted Manchester United fan and thrilled with the win.

Cygnet Manor’s team took on local construction firm Miller Knight in a charity football match. After an entertaining game, Cygnet Manor emerged victorious with a 6-4 scoreline. The team extends their gratitude to Miller Knight for their generous donations of prizes and cash contributions, making the match a resounding success for both sport and charity.

“We cannot thank the local community enough for all their support with donations of prizes and attending on the day,” said Mellissa Greenwood, Head of Care. “It was a fabulous day had by all and showed great community spirit. It demonstrates how an event like this can bring the community together.”

The cricket club’s bar staff also received special recognition for their non-stop service throughout the day, ensuring the community was well looked after.

This remarkable single-day total of £3,353 contributes to an even more impressive ongoing fundraising effort. Since beginning their campaign in February 2025, the Cygnet Manor team has now raised £4,808 for Sheffield’s Children’s Charity, with their fundraising activities continuing until January 2026.

The Family Fun Day perfectly exemplified the community spirit and dedication that drives Cygnet Manor’s approach to supporting local causes, bringing together staff, families, local businesses, and residents for a day that will be remembered for years to come.
