Cygnet Manor in Shirebrook has proudly handed over a cheque for £12,300 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity following a year of dedicated fundraising by staff and the men supported at the service.

Located on Central Drive, Cygnet Manor is a high dependency care service supporting 20 men with learning disabilities. At the beginning of 2025, staff and the individuals cared for chose the hospital charity as the focus of their charitable efforts.

Fundraising activities throughout the year included a Family Fun Day at Shirebrook Cricket Club, a sponsored skydive and a community car wash, with everyone at the service getting involved to support the cause.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity supports ground-breaking medical treatment, funds life-saving equipment and helps create a comfortable and engaging environment for children and families receiving care at the hospital.

Nicki Swift, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Cygnet Manor for their fantastic fundraising efforts and generous donation of £12,300. Support like this makes a real difference to the lives of the children and families we care for, helping us fund vital equipment, improve hospital environments and support life-saving research.

“Thank you to the whole team for choosing to support our charity and for going above and beyond to help our patients. The fact this money has been raised by people receiving care themselves makes it even more special.

“The monies raised will be used where it is needed most. Thanks again to Cygnet for all the amazing support throughout 2025 and into 2026. We look forward to continuing this partnership to improve children’s hospital experiences and achieve better outcomes.”

Hospital Manager at Cygnet Manor, Kelly Shortt, added: “We are incredibly proud of everyone at Cygnet Manor for the commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork shown throughout the year. The men we support were at the heart of our fundraising efforts, and it has been inspiring to see how much this cause meant to them.

“Raising £12,300 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity is a fantastic achievement, and we’re delighted to support the vital work they do for children and families. Giving back to the community is an important part of who we are, and we look forward to continuing our support in the future for more worthwhile community causes.”
