Cygnet joins new Quality Network for neurological conditions

Cygnet's Neuropsychological services

Cygnet is proud to have joined a quality improvement and accreditation network for services that assess, diagnose and treat neuro conditions.

The Quality Network for Neuropsychiatry is a voluntary and subscription-based membership run by the Royal College of Psychiatrists that supports and engages neuropsychiatry services in a process of quality improvement.

Cygnet Health Care offers a range of neurological services for individuals with acquired brain injuries and neurodegenerative disorders. All seven of Cygnet’s services which support those with a neuro conditions will benefit from being part of the network, which was officially launched on Thursday 25 April.

The network assesses these services using evidence-based quality standards developed from recommendations in key literature, research, and consultation with stakeholders and those with lived experience.

They conduct peer reviews, either face-to-face or virtual, to identify areas of improvement and provide comprehensive service-level reports highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

During the peer review, trained assessors from the network will evaluate the services based on the established quality standards. They identify areas where the services are performing well and areas where improvement is needed. The assessors review various aspects of the services, such as their assessment, diagnosis, and treatment processes for neuropsychiatric conditions.

A comprehensive service-level report is then compiled which highlights the key achievements of the service and identifies specific areas for improvement. This report serves as a valuable tool for the services to understand their strengths and weaknesses and to guide their quality improvement efforts.

With the official launch of the Quality Network now achieved, progress to develop and roll out the assessment process will begin earnest. We look forward to the assessments beginning in 2025.

Dr Matt Rowett, Cygnet Health Care Medical Director for Neuropsychiatry (North) said: “Cygnet joining the Royal College of Psychiatrists Quality Network for Neuropsychiatry, as a founding member, is a moment of excitement and pride.

“It is a testament to our commitment to excellence in neuropsychiatric care and our dedication to continuous improvement.

“This opportunity allows us to contribute to shaping the standards of quality care while also connecting with like-minded professionals and organisations.

“It is a significant step forward in our mission to provide the best possible care for our patients and to make a positive impact in the field of neuropsychiatry.”

The benefits of membership in the Quality Network for Neuropsychiatry include access to learning opportunities through events, webinars and resources. The network also publishes reports where member services can benchmark and promote their work, as well as demonstrate compliance against the standards.

Additionally, membership provides networking opportunities for members to share learning during peer reviews and events.
