The Occupational Therapy team at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield recently co-produced a Pride event with the young people on the hospital’s Unicorn Ward and Griffin Ward. The event coincided with Pride Month, an annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
The event featured colours galore with glitter, rainbow balloons, face paint and cake being the main attraction.
The young people worked extremely hard to create artwork, bake cookies with the main feature being a coloured tiered cake which a young person from Griffin Ward had made. This cake was coloured and surrounded by smarties and a colourful fondant flower.
The young people and the team enjoyed a range of activities including name the bear, guess the weight of the sweets and a raffle. The event raised a lot off awareness around a subject that all our young people are passionate about whilst at the same time raising over £150 for a local LGBTQ+ charity.
