Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke’s Kewstock 2023 Festival

Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke recently held its inaugural “Kewstock” Festival, a music festival for the ages. The event merged the annual “Kewstoke’s Got Talent” and the idea of a music festival.

The event, hosted by Dave Smart, General Manager, saw performances from staff across all departments and service users across all wards. Special guest, former-staff member Sally Holiday, performed to close the show before prizes were awarded to the winners.

All departments pulled together to put on a BBQ, Mocktail bar, staging & music PA system and festival style face-painting. There was also an ice cream van, as well as activities and games delivered by the occupational therapy and Active Life Team.

The event was also attended by service users and staff from Cygnet Alders Clinic, Cygnet Brunel and Cygnet Hospital Taunton with one staff member from Alders delighting everyone with an impromptu vocal performance.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive from both staff and service users with one service user saying, “What was really good is the people being creative, it was amazing.” Another service user said: “It was a lot of fun, especially when I sang, Dave made the day extra special.”

The event was such a success that ideas and plans are already being worked on for next year’s event!
