Dr Jhansi Seekolu, winner of the SAS Doctor of the Year for the London Division by the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).

We are proud to share that Dr Jhansi Seekolu, Specialty Doctor at Cygnet Hospital Harrow, has been named SAS Doctor of the Year for the London Division by the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).

The accolade, presented by the RCPsych London Division, recognises Dr Seekolu’s outstanding contributions to psychiatry, her dedication to inclusive and high-quality patient care, and her impact on service development and education.

Reflecting on the award, Dr Seekolu said: “Winning the SAS Doctor of the Year award fills me with immense gratitude and a deep sense of honour. I am truly thankful to God and to my parents, whose unwavering support and belief in me have been the foundation of my journey.

“Having my contributions recognised by peers and the Royal College is profoundly affirming. I feel humbled and energised to continue advancing service improvement, education, and inclusive care. This award reflects not only my efforts but also the dedication of the teams I’ve worked with, and it strengthens my commitment to excellence and equity in psychiatry.”

SAS (Specialty and Associate Specialist) doctors are senior clinicians who have completed medical training but have chosen a non-training career path, focusing on delivering patient care.

Dr Seekolu has carved a successful career as an SAS Doctor, a role she chose for its flexibility and the opportunity it provides to lead meaningful change.

“I chose the SAS path for its flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to remain clinically grounded while influencing services,” she said. “The best part is being able to shape care delivery, mentor colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement without the constraints of traditional training routes.”

Dr Seekolu works at the Springs Centre at Cygnet Hospital Harrow, where she plays a vital role in multidisciplinary care and service development.

The Springs Centre is a 21-bed service for men with mental health needs and a diagnosis of autism.
