Cygnet Brunel receives QI ready status

Last week marked a huge milestone for Cygnet’s Quality Improvement journey as Cygnet Brunel, was signed off as QI ready – the first Cygnet site to achieve this status.

Cygnet’s QI programme was set up to support and empower our Health Care and Social Care sites to drive local quality improvement. Some of the key criteria for meeting QI ready status includes compliance within our different courses of QI training, formulating a local QI project, getting involved in the Regional QI forum, signing up to LifeQI and ensuring QI is part of local governance meeting discussions.

Well done to Stephanie Coxon, Hospital Manager, and all of the team at Cygnet Brunel for being the first of many to come to achieve this status.

Steph said, “I am so pleased that Brunel has been awarded this accolade. As a forward thinking team we are always looking for ways to drive forward our quality and are engaged with our service users to develop these ideas together.

“We have seen success with this already, but being QI Ready means we will take this to the next level, developing our service together, but hopefully being able to assist others through our projects.

“We have already engaged our service users, whom have started drafting their own QI initiatives. We have an exceptional rehabilitation community at Brunel, I can’t wait to see how we add to this through QI.”

David Wilmott, Director of Nursing, and Haley Williams, QI Advisor for the South, presented Steph and the team with their plaque and QI folder on the day.

During the site visit Steph and the team discussed with Haley and Dan King (QI Lead) many more exciting ideas for new Quality Improvement projects, which will also supports with their focus of aiming for Outstanding with the CQC and most importantly will have full service user collaboration.

David said, “I was delighted to be able to present team Brunel with their QI ready plaque, there is such a strong team at Brunel under Steph’s leadership, I know they will go on to undertake hugely successful QI projects that will ensure we place our service users at the very heart of QI.

“I am very pleased that they are the first site to have achieved QI ready status and this is something to be hugely proud off.”
