These annual awards were established to keep people ‘enthused’ and thinking about how they can apply DBT in their practice. The award was won for the team’s work on Bowling Ward, Cygnet Hospital Bierley’s specialist service for women with highly complex needs associated with a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder.
The judges’ comments stated that Bierley’s entry was “wonderfully inspiring, detailing strategies to improve engagement, motivation and hope” for their DBT participants. The programme’s high attendance rates at skills groups and individual therapy sessions were also commended.
“It’s lovely to have the quality of our DBT programme endorsed by this award. Our DBT team is passionate about delivering a high standard of DBT to our service users. I’d like to thank our therapists for always working so hard to drive up standards and provide the best possible treatment to the women on Bowling.
