Located on Grout Street, the neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative rehabilitation service for men with mental health needs and acquired brain injuries hosted a charitable Hawaiian-themed summer party, which raised £122 for Dementia UK.
The charity offers support and guidance for individuals and families affected by dementia.
“Our service users chose to support Dementia UK and did a fantastic job. We had a great day and everyone enjoyed the activities,” explained Pauline Blair-Manuel, Receptionist at Cygnet Heathers.
Service users played a key role in the fundraiser by organising the party and making key decisions on all aspects of the day from the theme to the games available.
Partygoers, which included staff, carers and service users’ families, were able to enjoy activities such as a ring toss, pass the pineapple and limbo. There was also a raffle, which kept the much-needed donations rolling in.
One individual at the Cygnet Health Care service took to the DJ decks to keep attendees entertained while they enjoyed a variety of food.
Pauline continued: “Not only did our service users organise the day, but they really enjoyed it too. It was an opportunity to bring them together with staff, which supports socialisation and engagement.”
