Cygnet Health Care shortlisted for two HealthInvestor Awards

We are proud to announce that Cygnet Health Care have been shortlisted as finalists this year for two HealthInvestor Awards in the Complex Care Provider of the Year and the IT Innovator of the Year categories.

For nearly 20 years the HealthInvestor Awards have been celebrating excellence and the very best in health and social care. The awards ceremony will take place in London on the 7th June 2023.

The Complex Care Provider of the Year nomination is in recognition of the positive impact of our Neuropsychiatric services. Cygnet provides specialised Neuropsychiatric services across six hospitals that provide a clear and distinctive treatment pathway for those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Achievements include:

  • All of our Neuropsychiatric services that have been inspected by the CQC are rated ‘Good’.
  • 50% of our Neuropsychiatric services are Headway Approved Provider Accredited with the remaining 50% awaiting inaugural inspections in the coming year.
  • 91% of the individuals discharged from our Neuropsychiatric inpatient services in 2022 were able to move closer to home or step down along their pathway into the community.
  • In our 2022 Service User Satisfaction Survey, 95% of individuals in our Neuropsychiatric services felt that ward staff were caring and supportive.

The IT Innovator of the Year nomination is in recognition of our use of technology to drive a greener, cleaner, safer fleet. Cygnet runs a fleet of 263 vehicles, a mix of people carriers and minibuses. The vehicles are provided to allow service users and residents to visit loved ones, and attend therapeutic activities and events in the community.

We are fully committed to reducing our carbon footprint, energy consumption, fuel impacts and waste. One of the IT solutions to help us attain this goal is Lightfoot. The Lightfoot solution is a vehicle tracking and driver training device that prompts the driver to drive carefully and smoothly within speed limits, avoid idling with the engine running and, if the vehicle is not being driven as expected, it alerts the driver with a flashing and audible warning system.

Cygnet Health Care has now introduced Lightfoot in all company-owned fleet vehicles, which have had a proven outcome of lowering emissions, reducing accidents, saving fuel and ensuring the safe, comfortable transfer of service users.

Since Lightfoot has been installed the system has reduced Cygnet’s CO2 emissions by 122 tonnes, of which more than half was achieved in 2022. It has also saved expenditure via improved fuel economy.

Dr Tony Romero, Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to be finalists in two categories of these prestigious awards. Every day we strive to improve the experience of our residents and service users, and it is very rewarding to see just some of that work recognised in this way. Thank you to all of our teams for their hard work in making the above nominations possible. We wish you all the best at the final in June.”
