Two of our neuropsychiatric care services in Sutton-in-Ashfield went the extra mile and raised much-needed funds for a brain injury charity.

Cygnet Grange, located on Mason Street, and Cygnet Lodge, located on Sandown Road, are two separate eight-bed neuropsychiatric rehabilitation, care and treatment facilities for those affected by acquired brain injuries.

Staff at the two Cygnet Health Care services dressed to impress and stepped up for a fancy dress walk, raising £130 for Headway.

The charity works to improve people’s lives after acquiring brain injuries by providing support and information services. Headway also provides emergency funds to assist people dealing with financial implications in the aftermath of a brain injury.

“Because we are neuropsychiatric care units, Headway is an important charity to all of us. We know the devastating effects brain injuries have on a person and their family,” explained Kelly LeGrice, Team Leader at Cygnet Grange.

“The charity is very close to our hearts and it does so much for people. Both of our services are also Headway-accredited so giving back to the charity meant a lot to us.”

The Cygnet Health Care services trekked 5.5 miles from Cygnet Grange to nearby Cygnet Storthfield House donned in fancy dress. Costumes included stars of the screen, such as Mrs Doubtfire and Miss Trunchbull, as well as an inflatable rooster and bumblebee.

Kelly said: “It rained for the entire walk and we were absolutely drenched by the end. But not one person suggested rearranging or cancelling as we were all determined to complete the walk to raise money for Headway. I am very proud of everyone for this.”

Cygnet Grange and Cygnet Lodge are continuing their fundraising efforts with a charity wax event later this month.
