Support Worker Ridwan Ayangbayi has been named a finalist in the Dignity in Care Award category at the 2026 Great British Care Awards for the East Midlands, recognising his dedication to ensuring the people he supports feel valued, respected and treated as individuals.
The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the social care sector, recognising the individuals and teams who make a meaningful difference to people’s lives through their dedication, skills and commitment to high-quality care.
The Dignity in Care Award honours individuals who go above and beyond to promote independence and choice while ensuring people’s privacy and dignity are upheld at all times. It recognises the importance of providing personalised support that respects each individual’s preferences, needs and rights.
Ridwan said: “The most enjoyable and rewarding part of my job is knowing that I can make a real difference in someone’s life, no matter how big or small that difference may be. For me, care is much more than completing tasks, it about building meaningful relationships, earning trust and treating every individual with kindness, compassion and dignity.
“Being shortlisted for a Great British Care Award in the Dignity in Care category means so much to me because dignity, respect and compassion are at the heart of everything I do. It is a wonderful feeling to know that my commitment to ensuring people feel valued, respected, heard and treated as individuals has been recognised.
“Regardless of the final outcome, being named a finalist is an honour that I will cherish. It inspires me to continued giving my best, advocating for the people I support and ensuring that every individual receives care that preserves their dignity.”
Beeches is a specialist residential service in South Leverton, near Retford, providing support for adults with autism and learning disabilities. Ridwan works with residents, helping them develop their independence, make choices about their lives and participate in their communities.
The East Midlands regional awards ceremony will take place at EMCC Nottingham on 23 November 2026, bringing together care professionals from across the region to celebrate excellence in social care.
