Young People from Cygnet Hospital Sheffield present at Royal College of Psychiatrists Conference

Earlier this week our CAMHS teams from Cygnet Hospital Sheffield were invited to present at The Royal College of Psychiatrists Quality network for inpatient CAMHS (QNIC) National conference. Three young people presented alongside members of staff to over 100 delegates.

The team was asked to present on how they have championed inclusivity within the service. Ali Curtis, CAMHS Nursing Lead, and Amethyst Saynor, Positive and Safe Champion, supported the young people to share how the Cygnet CAMHS services are embracing co-production.

Everyone spoke about multiple projects such as the brand new CAMHS Safeguarding Charter which was co-written by a young person, young people attending interviews for prospective staff, having voluntary and paid work experience around the hospital, co-producing the CAMHS clinical models, creating their own CAMHS survey and organising charity events.

The QNIC Programme Manager Matt said that Cygnet Hospital Sheffield CAMHS services were “highlighted as some of the leading innovators within the network at amplifying young people’s voices and creating inclusive environments”.

The team were extremely proud of the young people who did a fantastic job!
