Tilly’s concert to remember

Tilly, a service user at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield’s Spencer Ward, achieved a major goal last weekend when she went to see Lucy Spraggan perform live at the Foundry in Sheffield.

Tilly has long been a fan of Lucy Spraggan. When the Occupational Therapy team found out that Lucy was finishing her latest tour in Sheffield they approached Tilly to let her know. Tilly initially responded with “I’d love to go, but I won’t be able to, that’s not something I can do whilst I am here.”

Determined to support Tilly to realise her ambition of seeing Lucy live the Occupational Therapy team spent time with her exploring the possibility of her going and discussing any positives and negatives which may come from attending the concert.

With a plan in place Tilly felt positive about being able to work towards this goal. Tilly was then supported by the Occupational Therapy team to make her request to the wider multi-disciplinary team in her ward round, where she received a resounding ‘yes’ from everyone.

Tilly was supported to go to the concert by Hannah, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Becca, Support Worker. It proved to be an enjoyable night for all three of them and it was a goal successfully achieved.

Reflecting on her experience at the concert and looking to the future, Tilly said: “Lucy was supported by Cassa Jackon, I’ve followed her for two years. I was really pleased to see her there too, and I thought she was really good. I was completely flabbergasted by seeing Lucy. I can’t stop smiling. She was so good. I bought her t-shirt, hoodie and a bookmark. I’ve also got her poster on my bedroom door, it was pre-signed by her.”

“Becca proper enjoyed the concert too, she’s even downloaded Lucy’s albums now. Next up, I want to get tickets to see Billy Eilish.”
