Neil Coyle MP visits Cygnet Churchill to meet staff and patients

Neil Coyle MP recently visited Cygnet Churchill in South London to meet staff, speak with patients, and tour the hospital, including the innovative social hub.

Mr Coyle is the Labour MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark. During his visit, Mr Coyle had the opportunity to see first-hand the care provided across the hospital’s four wards: Juniper Court and Palm Court, the two emergency acute admission services, and Elm Court and Mulberry Court, the high support inpatient rehabilitation services (Level 2).

He was given a tour of the service, including the social hub, a non-clinical room which offers the men a safe, homely space in which to relax, unwind and socialise together. It features arcade machines, a television with PlayStation 5, sensory lights, posters, and lots of gadgets.

Commenting on the visit, Mr Coyle said: “It was a pleasure to visit Cygnet Churchill this week and meet with staff, the individuals being supported and to see the high quality care which is being delivered.“Services like this are vital to ensuring those who need support have access to the very best care and I am grateful for their contributions in partnership with the NHS to improving the mental health of men in London and beyond.”

Harrison Carnegie, Hospital Manager at Cygnet Churchill, added: “It was wonderful to welcome Neil Coyle MP to Cygnet Churchill. Visits like this are so important for building and maintaining relationships with our local representatives.

“Engaging with MPs helps ensure that the voices of our staff and patients are heard and supports our mission to provide the very best care for men in our community.

“Cygnet Churchill delivers high-quality, patient-focused care within a supportive community atmosphere. I really appreciated the opportunity to showcase to our local MP how we help men develop the skills needed to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.”
