Cygnet Victoria House, on Barton Street, Darlington is a 26 bed mental health inpatient service for men. The service, split across two wards, provides support for men experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.
The TV personality, best known for Geordie Shore, released a video on his social media channels saying he had bags of clothes he wanted to donate to a good cause and Activity Co-ordinator at the Cygnet Health Care-run service, Del Creighton, reached out to see if he would deliver them to the men at the hospital.
He later visited Cygnet Victoria House with two big bags of clothes and met some of the patients and staff at the service.
Del explained: “Some of our patients arrive at the hospital with little or no belongings, or even clean clothes.
“This was a really generous gesture by Nathan to help men suffering with mental health problems have a renewed sense of confidence and dignity as they look to recover and get back towards independent living. Having smart, clean clothes all contributes towards giving people a sense of pride in themselves whilst they spend time in hospital and progress on their pathway.
“The men in our care were delighted to receive the donations and we all extended a big thank you to Nathan for his generosity.”
