Annabelle Lee, Deputy Manager at Cygnet Social Care’s Broughton Lodge in Macclesfield, took on the 26.2‑mile challenge on Sunday 26 April in aid of Sense, a charity that supports people with complex disabilities to feel included, connected and supported.
Sense also provides vital information and guidance for families and carers, helping them to support their loved ones to live fulfilling lives.
Annabelle trained consistently for the marathon alongside her role at Broughton Lodge, a specialist residential service supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities.
Speaking about her motivation, Annabelle said:
“I wanted to raise money for Sense as it supports people with complex disabilities. This is something I do in my line of work, so it seemed fitting. I’m so proud of myself for completing the London Marathon and raising money for such a great cause.”
Despite it being her first marathon, Annabelle completed the course in an impressive time of under four hours.
Reflecting on the experience, she added:
“The best part was running over Tower Bridge and hearing the roar of supporters getting behind us all.”
Annabelle’s achievement highlights the dedication and compassion of colleagues across Cygnet Social Care, both inside and outside of work, and the positive impact they continue to make in their communities.
