David Wilmott

We are delighted to announce that Cygnet have been named as finalists in two categories at this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards.

Our Director of Nursing, David Wilmott, has been shortlisted as Manager of the Year which recognises the skilled and dedicated managers who lead teams and enable nursing and other clinical staff to provide high-quality care. The award will recognise a manager who has a big impact on staff wellbeing and fosters teams that feel valued.

The nomination is well deserved as David is an exceptional team leader, who demonstrates commitment to nurturing and supporting his staff. Following the announcement that he had been named a finalist David said: “I am really delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award.

“I have always tried to ensure that my leadership style is grounded in my core values and that compassionate leadership is at the very heart of my approach, and with this style ensuring that our staff and teams feel valued and empowered and provide the very best in high quality care that they can.”

Cygnet has also been recognised in the Best Employer for Diversity and Inclusion category for the work of our Multicultural Network. This award aims to recognise an organisation that has made a significant improvement and continued commitment to the diversity of its workforce.

Cygnet’s Multicultural Network is a vibrant forum that plays an instrumental role in providing a credible and unified voice for Minority Ethnic staff.

The Network aims to help Cygnet to shape relevant strategies and policies based on the shared unique experiences of colleagues and to identify and provide the necessary support.

Beatrice Nyamande, Co-Deputy of the Multicultural Network said: “Here at Cygnet, we know that people’s differences should be valued and supported in the workplace and every person should experience equal treatment and equal opportunity.

“Our Multicultural Network has gone from strength to strength and earlier this year we were delighted to launch our Multicultural Network Strategy for 2023-2025 which focuses on our top four priorities; Education & Awareness, Creating a safe space, Career Development, and Celebration & recognition.

“On behalf of all the team members who have contributed to the network I would just like to say how delighted we are that our hard work and commitment to making a positive difference to ethnic minority colleagues has been recognised by these awards.”

The winners Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards will be announced at a special event at the Hilton London Metropole on Tuesday 21st November. Good luck to David, Beatrice and the whole of the Multicultural Network team.
