Cygnet Partners with Rest Less to Champion Career Opportunities for Over-50s

Cygnet, a leading provider of health and social care services, is proud to announce its partnership with Rest Less, the digital community and advocacy platform for people aged 50 and over.

The collaboration aims to promote inclusive hiring practices and highlight the value of later-life career opportunities within the health and social care sector.

Through this partnership, Cygnet will share job opportunities directly with the Rest Less community and showcase real stories of individuals who’ve successfully transitioned into fulfilling roles later in life.

One such individual is Deborah Stevens, 56, who, after a successful but demanding career in the automotive industry, found herself at a crossroads, re-evaluating her priorities in the wake of health challenges and an unsustainable work-life balance. Uncertain about her prospects at her age, she hesitantly re-entered the job market.

“I thought, ‘How on Earth am I going to find a job at my age?’” Deborah said.

Her concerns were quickly dispelled when she received interview offers for every role she applied to, including one with Cygnet Health Care. Today, Deborah works as an Office Admin Manager at Cygnet’s Birmingham office, where she has found not only a healthier work-life balance but also a renewed sense of purpose.

“Knowing that every part of my work here contributes to the individuals we support is what I find most rewarding,” she says. “Cygnet’s values were evident right from the interview. They were honest, compassionate, and genuinely focused on finding the right fit, not just ticking boxes.”

Deborah said Cygnet’s commitment to integrity, trust, empowerment, respect, and care was a driving factor in her decision. Since joining, she has thrived in her new role and become an active member of internal staff networks supporting women and men’s health.

Ben Hopewell, Head of Resourcing at Cygnet, said: “This partnership with Rest Less is a natural fit for us.  At Cygnet we recognise the untapped potential of experienced professionals looking to make meaningful contributions in the second half of their careers. We want to ensure people of all ages know they are welcome and valued at Cygnet. Experience, empathy, and life perspective are qualities we treasure, and our team is stronger because of them.

“The new partnership with Rest Less will enable Cygnet to reach more people like Deborah, experienced, capable, and ready for a meaningful second career. It also reflects Cygnet’s broader mission to build a diverse and inclusive workforce that truly represents the communities we serve.”

Stuart Lewis, CEO of Rest Less, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Cygnet to highlight the positive role older workers can play in the health and social care sector. Cygnet’s openness to later-life career changers sets a great example of age-inclusive recruitment.

Too often, talented professionals in their 50s, 60s and beyond are overlooked or underestimated when they bring a wealth of experience, emotional intelligence, and dedication to the workplace.

“Cygnet’s approach shows that age is no barrier to making a meaningful contribution, and in fact, can be a powerful asset. We look forward to working together to empower more people to find rewarding, flexible roles that reflect their values and life goals.”
