Due to open for admissions in the next few weeks, the new hospital is split into two distinct wards, each offering specialist mental health services. These include Clarion Ward, a 15 bed complex personality disorder service for women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-morbid disordered eating, and Compton Ward, a 15 bed acute service for women.
The hospital was officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony by Cllr Benn Minshall, the Mayor of Crewe. Following a tour of the new hospital Cllr Minshall said, “Mental health has been a taboo subject for some time and places like Cygnet Nield House help to destigmatise that.
“We all know somebody who has been affected by mental health and to know that access to these facilities is on the increase that gives me hope. Congratulations to the team on opening such an incredible facility.”
Hospital manager Masimba Kamba said, “The specialist support we offer means that women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-occurring eating disorder are able to have both conditions treated simultaneously in an environment where they feel safe.”
Pending successful registration with the Care Quality Commission the hospital will be opening in the next few weeks. Referrals are now being accepted for Clarion Ward.
