On Monday 27th March the team at Cygnet Hospital Woking were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Woking to officially open Kahlo Ward, the hospital’s new acute service for women.

Kahlo Ward provides a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

The ethos of the service is about assessing and treating service users in the least restrictive environment and planning for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, the ward team will support service users to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community.

In keeping with the artist themed name of the hospital’s Picasso Ward, Kahlo Ward is named after the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
