Cygnet ‘Highly Commended’ at National British Training Awards

Cygnet has been recognised nationally for its commitment to developing colleagues after being ‘Highly Commended’ in the Learning and Development Team of the Year (1,000+ employees) category at the British Training Awards 2026.

The British Training Awards celebrate organisations and individuals across the UK who are making an outstanding impact through learning and development, recognising those who are passionate about building skilled, thriving workforces.

Cygnet’s Learning and Development team was recognised for delivering high-quality training at scale across the organisation, supporting colleagues to develop their skills while improving patient care and safety.

The judges praised Cygnet’s submission, commenting: “Clear objectives and a bold initiative that enabled highly relevant learning content, delivered with impressive scale and consistency, and achieved clear results with organisation-wide impact.”

Over the past 12 months, Cygnet’s Learning and Development team has delivered:

  • 193,742 eLearning completions
  • 61,626 live training attendances
  • 179,191 hours of eLearning
  • Major organisation-wide programmes including PSIRF training, Infection Prevention training and the Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Competency Framework training.

The submission also highlighted Cygnet’s continued investment in leadership development, trauma-informed care, equality, diversity and inclusion, and a range of initiatives designed to strengthen workforce capability, improve patient safety and support high-quality care across the organisation.

Jenny Gibson, Director of HR, said: “We are incredibly proud that our Learning and Development team has been Highly Commended at the British Training Awards. They work hard to ensure our workforce has access to high-quality learning opportunities that support both professional development and exceptional care.

“Our Learning and Development team delivers training on an extraordinary scale, but what makes this recognition particularly meaningful is the positive impact that learning has across our organisation. By investing in our people, we continue to strengthen skills, support career progression, enhance patient safety and ultimately improve outcomes for the people in our care.

“To receive recognition in such a competitive national awards programme is a fantastic achievement and one that everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.”

Nate Harwood, Founder of the British Training Awards, said: “As we navigate a profound industrial shift, organisations equipping their people with new skills are actively building tomorrow’s economy. The British Training Awards celebrate the visionary teams and individuals driving this transformation. Congratulations to all our Winners, Highly Commended and Finalists.”

The winners and Highly Commended organisations were announced during a celebration event held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London, hosted by comedian Lucy Porter.

Cygnet had also been shortlisted in the Awareness Campaign of the Year category for its ‘Not On My Watch – Stop Sexual Harassment’ campaign, recognising the organisation’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace for all colleagues.
