Residents and staff in East Midlands raise money for children’s hospice

Last week a staff member and a resident from Birches, our residential service in Newark, visited Rainbows Hospice to present a cheque from a fundraising event.

Rainbows Hospice supports over 400 babies, children and young people living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in the East Midlands. They support every baby, child and young person to fulfil their potential, and help families make the most of every precious moment, while capturing memories and keepsakes to treasure.

Hayley Rogers, Service Manager for Birches, was accompanied by one of the residents who is supported at Birches. They presented a cheque for £400.

The amount had been raised from a Christmas Market that took place late last year and which was supported by a number of our social care services in the East Midlands.

After visiting Rainbows Hospice, Hayley said: “All I can say is wow, what an incredible place it is. It’s so friendly and inviting. A really lovely place for children and families to spend their time.

“We really care about the communities in which our Cygnet Health Care and Cygnet Social Care services sit and we try to make a positive difference to the lives of not only our residents and their loved ones, but our communities too. This charity is an incredibly worthwhile cause and I am so proud that we were able to contribute in some small way to the fantastic, life-changing work they do.”

Clare Wainwright, Community Fundraiser with Rainbows, said: “We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for fundraising for Rainbows. We really do appreciate all the hard work that goes into fundraising.

“Thank you so much for raising an amazing £400. That is an incredible amount.

“Your support really does mean the world to us and all the families we support at Rainbows not only in Nottinghamshire but across the East Midlands.

“Once again, thank you so much, we really do appreciate you thinking of Rainbows.”
